May 27 Update Graphic

May 27, 2020

Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,

I think we all can agree that the ending of the 2019-20 school year is not what any of us expected or wanted. I am grateful to each and every student, parent and caregiver and Warren employee for their resiliency, compassion, support for one another and for our 11,600 students.

We are working on a variety of scenarios for the 2020-21 school year, with safety for our students and staff as the priority focus in every situation. I have assembled a Re-Entry Task Force to work closely with the Marion County Health Department, the Indiana Department of Education and following guidance from Governor Holcomb to ensure that the plan we put in place provides the safest environment for students and staff. Our current planning includes a hybrid approach of both in person and online learning for all K-12 students.  It is my goal to share this final plan by the end of June.

As we plan for next year, registration will be a critical process for us. If you are currently enrolled in a Warren school, your information will be transferred to the next grade level and you do not need to re-register. For new families, we are currently accepting registrations for all grades for the 2020-2021 school year. Online registration details can be found on our website by selecting Registration under the Explore tab. Additionally, we will also be offering centralized on site registration and for families to update their information at select locations from 9am - 5pm Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer as outlined below:

Tuesday, June 16 - Warren Central High School
Thursday, June 18 - Stonybrook Intermediate/Middle School
Tuesday, June 23 - Warren Central High School
Thursday, June 25 - Liberty Park Elementary
Tuesday, July 7 - Warren Central High School
Thursday, July 9 - Stonybrook Intermediate/Middle School
Tuesday, July 14 - Warren Central High School
Thursday, July 16 - Liberty Park Elementary School

Students of any grade level or school can be registered for the 20-21 school year at these locations.  You can contact our hotline at 317-608-0545 or msdwarrenelearning@warren.k12.in.us with online registration needs.

Please remember that all schools will be distributing student's personal items, including end of year reports cards, and collecting textbooks and library books via a drive through service the first week of June. If you have personal items at your child's school you want to retreive, please complete this survey at (bit.ly/endofyearpickup) to assist us.

Early in June, we will be mailing grade level summer learning packets to all students in grades K-8. These packets will focus on essential math and reading skills as well as social emotional skills. Students will receive an incentive for completing their packet upon returning it to school in the Fall.

We are proud to announce that we will be partnering with the Marion County Health Department to provide drive thru COVID-19 testing for our community. The testing site will be accessible on the south side of the high school campus off of 16th street. Testing will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6AM - 2PM. Testing is free and registration is required. You can register onsite or online at MarionHealth.org/INDYCOVID

Our current food outreach program will remain the same for the month of June. Tuesdays and Fridays from 11AM - 1PM, and Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:00.  Visit our website for locations.
